V6 Dude Ranch California Parkfield Lodge Diablo Range Room

WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY!

The Diablo Range Room is inspired by the beautiful mountains that surround us and the many plants and animals that call it home. Most of the materials used were collected from the V6 Ranch and artfully crafted together by John Varian. The room was painted by local artist Steve Kalar, and furnished by Barbara Varian. We hope you enjoy your time in the Diablo Range Room!

About the brand

The Diablo Range Room is marked with the “7 Bar Bar L” brand. This was the first brand that Jack and Zee Varian used for their cattle operation. This brand was convenient because if you accidentally branded a calf upside down, it was still the same brand! Eventually Jack and Zee switched to the V6 brand, which stands for the six members of their family.

Cattle brands are the only way to show legal ownership over cattle in California. Similar to a family crest, cattle brands symbolize the family and are often passed down over several generations. Brands help tell the story of our community, so each room in the Parkfield Lodge is marked with a local brand.
