We're made of Carbon, AI is made from Silicon

Just because.

Of late I’ve been reading a lot about Artificial Intelligence and I wonder if it knows about gravity? My question about AI is the fact that we living things have as our building blocks Carbon and that is the answer to why we can feel love and laughter, hate and anger. So I don’t think that AI will be a threat to our world wide society because it is made of Silicon chips it has no compassion, no funny jokes, no frivolity. I believe you have to be built from Carbon to love.

But what scares me is the unknown, that when you create something that has never seen the light of day before and it bursts onto the scene and can gather information at the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) and in the wrong hands all life could be obliterated. It has just dawned on me that at this very moment l’m using AI as the screen on my iPad that I recording my thoughts on is giving me three words to choose from, and the words that it comes up for me to choose for this blog (I hate that word it rhymes bog, cog, log, noggin, ha ha) are better at guessing my thoughts than just a few months ago. That is both helpful and useful but when I extrapolate into the future is it still helpful and useful? I guess it’s who controls the on off switch.

So, as I see it right now, we earthlings have a Carbon based society and parallel to our society we have an emerging Silicone society and we don’t know how to manage it. My hope is that fair minded people will prevail and there will be a God that I can talk to every night and a Bill of Rights much like we have today. What lies ahead only time will tell. But I’m going to cast my vote for the leader who will choose the Sunny Side of the Street.

See Ya,

Jack
